    High pressure water cutting techniques have a wide range of applications to the American space effort. Hydroblasting techniques are commonly used during the refurbishment of the reusable solid rocket motors. The process can be controlled to strip a thermal protective ablator without incurring any damage to the painted surface underneath by using a variation of possible parameters. Hydroblasting is a technique which is easily automated. Automation removes personnel from the hostile environment of the high pressure water. Computer controlled robots can perform the same task in a fraction of the time that would be required by manual operation

    The distribution of commodity-related payments and Federal crop insurance indemnities to U.S. farmers has shifted to larger farms as more and more U.S. agricultural production is done on those farms. Since the operators of larger farms tend to have higher household incomes than other farm operators, commodity-related program payments and Federal crop insurance indemnities also have shifted to higher income households. By 2009, half of commodity-related program payments went to farms operated by households earning over 89,540,aquarterwenttofarmsoperatedbyhouseholdswithincomesgreaterthan89,540, a quarter went to farms operated by households with incomes greater than 209,000 and 10 percent went to farms operated by households with incomes of at least 425,000.Currentincomeeligibilitycapsandpaymentlimitsaffectfewfarmhouseholdsbecausemostofthemhaveincomesbelowtheincomecapsorreceivepaymentslessthanthepaymentlimits.Basedon2009AgriculturalResourceManagementSurvey(ARMS)data,recentproposalstolowerthoseincomecapsandpaymentlimitswouldstillaffectonlyasmallpercentageofU.S.farmhouseholds,becausetheirincomeswouldstillfallbelowtheproposedincomecapsandpaymentlimits.TotalGovernmentprogrampaymentstoU.S.farmswere425,000. Current income eligibility caps and payment limits affect few farm households because most of them have incomes below the income caps or receive payments less than the payment limits. Based on 2009 Agricultural Resource Management Survey (ARMS) data, recent proposals to lower those income caps and payment limits would still affect only a small percentage of U.S. farm households, because their incomes would still fall below the proposed income caps and payment limits. Daarbij gaat het om concrete afwegingen waar burgers en ondernemers voor staan; een uitdaging waarin gemeenten een belangrijke ondersteunende en stimulerende rol kunnen spelen. Met de Lokale Duurzaamheidsmeter wordt de voortgang gemeten en publiekelijk toegankelijk gemaakt. Op deze manier worden gemeenten gestimuleerd om hun inspanningen te blijven verbeteren.     Interpretation of runaway electron synchrotron and bremsstrahlung images

    The crescent spot shape observed in DIII-D runaway electron synchrotron radiation images is shown to result from the high degree of anisotropy in the emitted radiation, the finite spectral range of the camera and the distribution of runaways. The finite spectral camera range is found to be particularly important, as the radiation from the high-field side can be stronger by a factor 10610^6 than the radiation from the low-field side in DIII-D. By combining a kinetic model of the runaway dynamics with a synthetic synchrotron diagnostic we see that physical processes not described by the kinetic model (such as radial transport) are likely to be limiting the energy of the runaways. We show that a population of runaways with lower dominant energies and larger pitch-angles than those predicted by the kinetic model provide a better match to the synchrotron measurements. Using a new synthetic bremsstrahlung diagnostic we also simulate the view of the Gamma Ray Imager (GRI) diagnostic used at DIII-D to resolve the spatial distribution of runaway-generated bremsstrahlung.Comment: 21 pages, 11 figure

De opdracht betrof het uitzoeken wat er in de wetenschappelijke literatuur bekend is over duurzame bouwprocessen. Daarbij gaat het niet om de duurzaamheidgraad van de gebouwen in opgeleverde fase, maar de duurzaamheidgraad van bouwen renovatieprocessen. Omdat het gaat om de integrale duurzaamheidsgraad van de processen wordt in tegenstelling tot andere studies niet alleen stilgestaan bij gebruik van (duurzame) energie, maar is ook naar andere duurzaamheidaspecten gekeken

    Influence of peptidylarginine deiminase type 4 genotype and shared epitope on clinical characteristics and autoantibody profile of rheumatoid arthritis.

    Background: Recent evidence suggests that distinction of subsets of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) depending on anticyclic citrullinated peptide antibody (anti-CCP) status may be helpful in distinguishing distinct aetiopathologies and in predicting the course of disease. HLA-DRB1 shared epitope (SE) and peptidylarginine deiminase type 4 (PADI4) genotype, both of which have been implicated in anti-CCP generation, are assumed to be associated with RA. Objectives: To elucidate whether PADI4 affects the clinical characteristics of RA, and whether it would modulate the effect of anti-CCPs on clinical course. The combined effect of SE and PADI4 on autoantibody profile was also analysed. Methods: 373 patients with RA were studied. SE, padi4_94C.T, rheumatoid factor, anti-CCPs and antinuclear antibodies (ANAs) were determined. Disease severity was characterised by cumulative therapy intensity classified into ordinal categories (CTI-1 to CTI-3) and by Steinbrocker score. Results: CTI was significantly associated with disease duration, erosive disease, disease activity score (DAS) 28 and anti-CCPs. The association of anti-CCPs with CTI was considerably influenced by padi4_94C.T genotype (C/C: ORadj=0.93, padj=0.92; C/T: ORadj=2.92, padj=0.093; T/T: ORadj=15.3, padj=0.002). Carriage of padi4_94T exhibited a significant trend towards higher Steinbrocker scores in univariate and multivariate analyses. An association of padi4_94C.T with ANAs was observed, with noteworthy differences depending on SE status (SE2: ORadj=6.20, padj,0.04; SE+: ORadj=0.36, padj=0.02) and significant heterogeneity between the two SE strata (p=0.006).     Development of the mesospheric Na layer at 69° N during the Geminids meteor shower 2010

    The ECOMA sounding rocket campaign in 2010 was performed to investigate the charge state and number density of meteoric smoke particles during the Geminids meteor shower in December 2010. The ALOMAR Na lidar contributed to the campaign with measurements of sodium number density, temperature and line-of-sight wind between 80 and 110 km altitude over Andþya in northern Norway. This paper investigates a possible connection between the Geminids meteor shower and the mesospheric sodium layer. We compare with data from a meteor radar and from a rocket-borne in situ particle instrument on three days. Our main result is that the sodium column density is smaller during the Geminids meteor shower than the winter average at the same latitude. Moreover, during two of the three years considered, the sodium column density decreased steadily during these three weeks of the year. Both the observed decrease of Na column density by 30% and of meteoric smoke particle column density correlate well with a corresponding decrease of sporadic meteor echoes. We found no correlation between Geminids meteor flux rates and sodium column density, nor between sporadic meteors and Na column density (<I>R</I> = 0.25). In general, we found the Na column density to be at very low values for winter, between 1.8 and 2.6 &times; 10<sup>13</sup> m<sup>−2</sup>. We detected two meteor trails containing sodium, on 13 December 2010 at 87.1 km and on 19 December 2010 at 84 km. From these meteor trails, we estimate a global meteoric Na flux of 121 kg d<sup>−1</sup> and a global total meteoric influx of 20.2 t d<sup>−1</sup>
